Sending your first Snap Pack
Overview
Snap Packs are pressure-sealed, self-mailer documents that fold, seal, and mail without an envelope. Recipients tear along the perforated edge to open and reveal the content inside. The exterior displays the delivery and return address, making them USPS-compliant without a separate envelope.
Common use cases include paychecks, account statements, PINs, invoices, and confidential notices — any content that benefits from a tamper-evident, professional presentation.
Supported Format
8.5" x 11" Bifold (V-fold)
A two-panel mailer folded vertically down the center. There is no address window — the recipient address is printed directly on the outside panel. The inside panel is rotated 180 degrees relative to the outside.
8.5" x 11" Trifold (C-fold)
A three-panel mailer folded horizontally into three sections. The recipient address is printed on the bottom content panel and shows through a window cut into the front middle panel. A security tint on the outside top panel prevents inside content from showing through.
Supported Mailing Classes
USPS First Class
Best for transactional mail, statements, and notices. No volume minimum. Required for non-marketing content.
USPS Standard Class (Marketing Mail)
Best for promotional campaigns and marketing offers. Minimum of 200 mailers required. Orders under 200 are automatically converted to First Class.
Content Types
Using a template
If you have created Snap Pack templates in the PostGrid Template Editor, you can select them during order creation. Select an Inside Template (the content visible after the recipient opens the mailer) and an Outside Template (the mailing face with the address panel and exterior design). Both are required when using the template method.
Using Raw HTML
If your template was created using raw HTML in the Template Editor, it will appear in the template dropdown like any other template. Select it as your Inside or Outside template when creating the order.
Uploading a PDF
Upload a single print-ready PDF containing both panels. The PDF must be exactly 2 pages (inside and outside), match the dimensions of your selected size, and be no larger than 20MB. You cannot mix a PDF with a template or HTML input.
Designing templates in the Template Editor
Before creating a Snap Pack order, you'll need a template. Navigate to Resources > Templates in the left sidebar and click Create a Template.
- Step 1: Add a Description
Enter a name for your template to identify it later. - Step 2: Select Collateral Type
Choose either Snap Pack (8.5"x11" Bifold (Vertical)) or Snap Pack (8.5"x11" Trifold (C Fold)) from the collateral type options. - Step 3: Choose Your Creation Method
By default, the Template Editor opens with a visual drag-and-drop canvas. If you prefer to write your own HTML, check the box labeled "Create with raw HTML instead of using our Template Editor" - this replaces the editor with a single HTML input field. - Step 4: Click Create
Your template will be saved and will appear in your Templates list, ready to be selected when creating a Snap Pack order.
